MEDIA RELEASE ASCA Auction Fundraiser
Posted onAlberta School Councils’ Association (ASCA) Online Silent Auction Fundraiser opens November 18, 2023 at 4:00 pm MST.
The second annual online silent auction fundraiser in support of the Association will launch at the conclusion of the School Council Virtual Engagement event being held on Saturday November 18, 2023 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The ASCA Board of Directors welcomes Assistant Deputy Minister Kindy Joseph, Program and System Support Division, Alberta Education, as well as Saskatchewan educators with a special presentation on “Family Engagement – From Philosophy to Practice”.
The online auction will run for ten days from November 18, 2023, closing on November 28, 2023 at 1:00 pm MST. A wide variety of items donated from local businesses are available - just in time for holiday shopping! Gift baskets, toys, tickets, dining, and entertainment, are some of the featured categories.
With government funding removed in 2021, the Association has had to be creative in finding alternate sources of revenue to continue providing resources for school councils in Alberta. The online auction, corporate sponsorships, donations, and a golf tournament in June 2024, are some of the avenues to generate funds.
“We are grateful to our many donors, for supporting the Association and demonstrating the value of school councils in the community.” Says ASCA President, Brandi Rai.
Representing the “home and school connection” since 1929, ASCA will celebrate its 95th anniversary at the annual conference and AGM in April of 2024.
“Parents are partners in education, and their contributions are vital for student success,” says Brandi Rai, ASCA President. “The auction will contribute to the sustainability of ASCA enhancing the quality of Alberta’s education system.”
