Speaker Opportunities

Speaking at an ASCA Event

ASCA is seen as a credible source of skill and knowledge development for over 1200 School Councils in Alberta. We invite you to submit a proposal to share your expertise at one of our upcoming events, engaging directly with School Councils and their members in a live setting—whether in person or online. Speaking at an ASCA event offers you the chance to inspire meaningful conversations, support student success, and connect with a broad audience of parents and education partners across the province.

Each year, ASCA receives dozens of enquiries from multiple local and international speakers related to speaking at our Annual Conference or other school council engagement event. While we appreciate the interest of all speakers, we cannot personally and individually respond to every enquiry.

All speaking proposals are reviewed by a selection committee for appropriate content and context for School Councils in Alberta. Not all applicants will be successful for every event. If you are selected, or if additional information is required, you will be contacted by a member of the selection committee.

School Councils are structured groups of parents, principals, teachers, secondary students, and community representatives who work together to effectively support and enhance student learning. They provide a method for members of the school community to consult with and offer advice to the principal and the school board. School Councils are encouraged to share their knowledge with all members of the school community.

As a not-for-profit organization that does not receive Government funding or grants, ASCA's budget for a Keynote Speaker at any event does not exceed $5000 CDN (including expenses if in person), and is highly dependent on receiving sponsorships for any Event.

Breakout Speakers are typically not paid (exceptions are on a case-by-case basis) and receive recognition through ASCA's website, social media, and a donation to a Canadian charity from the Association.
