ASCA plays an essential role for school councils.

Posted on

I would like to extend a huge thank you to the Alberta School Councils' Association for all their help and support this year!

I became a school council chair having never served on school council, and having much to learn. I began my journey by taking the ASCA School Council Purpose webinar, to help me begin to prepare for my new role. I credit ASCA with helping me gain the knowledge necessary to become an effective school leader.

With the support of ASCA staff and the plethora of resources the organization provides, I was given the tools I needed to support the parents, students, and teachers in my school community.

Whenever I had questions, ASCA staff were willing to help. After attending the 2022 ASCA conference, I presented a report to my school community. That report includes useful recommendations on improving parent engagement, an issue for school councils province-wide.

The information I shared after attending the conference breakout sessions, will create positive changes in my school and community. I was also able to disseminate information on new resources available for teachers, students, and parents, that will support student learning.

ASCA plays an essential role for school councils. I extend my deepest gratitude for all their help and support.

Kindest regards,

Carmen
