Construction wraps up on 11 new schools
Posted onThe completion of 11 new schools across the province creates state-of-the-art learning spaces for more than 7,100 Alberta students.
Alberta’s Capital Plan invested more than $276.5 million into building 11 schools located in Brooks, Calgary, Cochrane, Edmonton, Grande Prairie and Legal. This investment helped get more than 1,500 Albertans back to work in jobs related to school planning, design and construction.
“Alberta’s Recovery Plan means investing in the future. We’re making life better by giving Alberta students access to the tools they need to learn, grow and succeed. On top of that, building these new schools got thousands of Albertans working again. These new schools will help ensure that Alberta remains the best place to live, work and raise a family.”
Nicholas Milliken, Minister of Infrastructure
“I am pleased to see these 11 new and replacement public, separate and francophone schools opening for the 2022-23 school year. Our K-12 students will benefit from these world-class facilities for years to come.”
Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Education
“I am pleased to see three new schools coming to Calgary-South East to meet the needs of our rapidly growing communities and families. These schools will enable more students to learn in their own communities close to home.”
Matt Jones, Minister of Children’s Services and MLA for Calgary-South East
Planning, design or construction work continues on an additional 48 school projects located throughout Alberta. Five of these projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
