Minister's Parent Advisory Council provides another opportunity for parents to be involved in education. A new council means parents have another opportunity to contribute their ideas and perspectives about education to the provincial government.
The council will consist of 20 parents of different backgrounds and perspectives from across Alberta. They will engage with other parents to share information and solicit feedback on education priorities. They will also meet with the minister a few times each year to share their thoughts about what they have heard at the local level.
The Alberta government recognizes the Alberta School Councils' Association (ASCA) as the official voice for parents in the public education system. This new council complements the work of the ASCA around parent engagement.
